I wish more people knew how much research funding goes towards helping actual students when they’re hired to work on faculty research. They get financial support, valuable experience, and possibly some publication credit. It’s huge bang-for-buck.

I don’t think it would meet the criteria you lay out here but Melville by the Rheostatics is the best Canadian album ever and uniquely Canadian in a very special way. It’s not even necessarily my favourite Canadian album but it’s the best.
