“Shut up, it’s better now for the average worker than when the average skewed ⬇️ due to effects of Jim Crow,” isn’t exactly the American Dream I learned in school.

Also not a very satisfying response to the many renters in their 40s whose parents bought homes during the 1980s at half their age.
Americans in their 20s and 30s may not feel that they’re richer than their equivalents 60 years ago, but they’re objectively wrong.

It’s fascinating how important it is to some people not to say “I’m struggling, it’s hard” or “I need help”—objectively true—but to instead insist they have it worse.

Last year I lost $14,000 betting on the Santa tracker but I’m not going to make that mistake this year. This year I’m going to win.

We are in very dark times. It’ll take an entire political/social movement, an overwhelming rebuke at the polls, and a new vision of governance to unstick this country from whatever this collapse is.

Not really an overstatement to say that the test of a free society is whether or not comedians can make fun of the country's leader on TV without repurcussions.

This is nonsense. A district court decision holds just as much legal weight as a Supreme Court decision. The only difference is the district court’s ruling is appealable. But until you WIN an appeal a district court’s decision binds all parties, including the executive branch.

Totally agree with this.

It’s infuriating that all of the hard-working investigative/beat reporters at the NYT have to constantly struggle against the half-brained musings of the paper’s more famous horse race commentators.
If you’re going to avoid saying Trump lies because you can’t prove his state of mind, you should also avoid saying he’s just trolling when you can’t prove that state of mind.
Trump says it out loud. He's trolling all the liberals and the media. But still striking to see him say that he's the king.

Everytime you read one of these stories--and they've become daily now--remember that there are some functions that are just as critical but don't make obvious headlines. Nukes! Bird Flu! ATCs!

But food inspectors are probably the same--and they're not being recalled. and so on.
USDA says it accidentally fired officials working on bird flu and is trying to rehire them

In a statement, an Agriculture Department spokesperson told NBC News that officials are "working to swiftly rectify the situation."
