💥 Excellent article in @economist.com about the absurdity of election results under FPTP - and its consequences:

"When the country has lots of medium-size parties, the correlation between the number of votes in, and number of seats out, owes more to Las Vegas than to Edmund Burke." 💯💯

This was then scrapped citing the Manchester synagogue attack. Polanski is both Jewish and from Manchester

I wonder if this guy is related to "Boris Johnson" who introduced "voter id" as Prime Minister in 2023 ... off the back of some crazy US conspiracy theories ... and in the process, made digital ID pretty much inevitable.

Everyone who supports electoral reform should wish @labour4pr.bsky.social well in their efforts to change Labour policy. The government has the power to set up a National Commission to determine the best form of PR for the UK and to implement it before the next election. We need them to succeed!

Farage promise to "stop the boats within two weeks of winning gov't" unravelling.

Apparently, it means "after passing laws", "as quickly as possible", he "believes", the boats will still cross, but all will be deported "if necessary" and "sensible", "unless we have a duty of care".

Bravo, Beth! 👏🏽

Giving 16- and 17-year-olds the vote is a long-overdue win for democracy — On this one I am happy to say well done, Labour.

But let’s not stop here. It’s time to:
* Abolish the unelected House of Lords
* Introduce PR so every vote counts

Young people deserve real representation.

New research shows that support for a fairer voting system has hit a new high.

This rise in support is no surprise. For too long, First Past the Post has distorted democracy, and the 2024 general election gave us the least representative parliament in British history.

💥 Big news: MPs have just voted in favour of PR!

Thank you to Sarah Olney for her brilliant speech, and to the 138 MPs who backed the bill.

This is just the first step - but it's great to see so much cross-party support for a political system where all voices are heard 💪💯
