Progressive. Socialist. New Yorker.
This gives me hope for #NYC
All the filings are in and it’s official: we raised more money from more individual donors than any other campaign over the last fundraising period.

In fact, more people donated to our campaign than the next six candidates *combined.*

Everyone deserves housing.
Everyone deserves food.
Everyone deserves water.
Everyone deserves healthcare.

We have the resources. We just need a system that focuses on caring for people instead of making the rich richer.

Last year, Mayor Adams vetoed legislation to expand rental assistance.

Now we learn that homelessness is higher in NYC than in any other U.S. city, up 25% last year.

This horrifying reality is the result of sky-high housing costs and the lack of leadership from City Hall.

New York’s jails are a stain on our state. People are dying in Rikers, being murdered in Marcy, suffering horrific abuse in facilities statewide, and being stripped of their humanity every single day.

This is not justice. It’s cruelty.

"Why should Ireland be a special case? Perhaps I flatter myself, but I’d like to think that even if I were British, or American, or German, or Dutch, I would still be able to look at the campaign of slaughter and destruction Israel is waging, and see it for the moral outrage that it is."
The mystery is not why we Irish have responded to Israel’s barbarism. It’s why others have not
I don’t believe in the idea of being on the right side of history. The histories of the future are none of our concern. Our concern is the present

We are relieved to see the CFB’s decision to deny Eric Adams matching funds, put public tax dollars to good use, and prevent abuse of the system.

New York’s public financing system works and we’ve been a model for states and localities across the nation.

When 85% of New Yorkers say the cost of food is rising faster than their incomes, it's time for a real alternative.

Introducing a public option...for produce.

🚇This latest subway meltdown isn't bad luck. It's the result of Gov Hochul's failure to fund and modernize the MTA. New Yorkers deserve public transit that is fast, free, and just plain works - like @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social's proposal for busses 🚌
Multiple subway lines were suspended as heavy rain walloped the region on Wednesday night, sparking a power loss that left some commuters stranded for hours, the MTA said: bit.ly/3ZO3bQl

“Don’t feed the trolls” also extends to bad opinion pieces in papers of record.

They run them bc people react to them the most.

If we stop linking to bad columns and instead post thinkers we find valuable (& generate convo around it), incentives change.

It’s not easy and takes constant practice!
