Founder and former CEO of Design Science, Inc. Now working on artificial general intelligence (AGI). Innate knowledge is the biggest missing piece.
I'm sure this has been asked before but what's with the ridiculous number of decimal places?

Maybe J6 too.

No clearer sign that Trump's whole political career is one long troll with the country as victim.

It's her Christmas gift to all constituencies to which she will not be elected to and will not serve.

Bill Maher's extra special episode to drop soon.

Would a second-hand Nobel Prize satisfy Trump? Perhaps he would fear that accepting it might interfere with any chance of getting his own, real one. I hope he does accept it. It would be a fitting end to the joke.

Writing isn't thinking but it does make you think. Telling someone else has a similar effect. As a computer programmer, I have often solved a difficult problem by describing it to a co-worker. The co-worker rarely contributes but putting the problem into words forces a certain kind of thinking.

Or just the worst person ever. I can't prove it but I know it's true.

And let's not forget "Barry Lyndon". Ok, we can forget that one.

Cool people don't have to tell others that they are cool. Trump and Republicans are uncool.

The connection between Trump and Maxwell's prison transfer is one of the most deeply held secrets of this administration. No one should hold their breath waiting for Wiles or anyone else to reveal it.
December 17, 2025 at 12:19 AM
Even if there's some policy they don't know about, it is not a valid excuse. They are paid to know. The buck stops at Trump's desk regardless of what he claims. With power comes responsibility.

Ok, so I did read your thread. It's a bit more about Wiles than I care about and didn't change my opinion. If I had to bet, Wiles has ambition but is not going to be successful once Trump leaves the scene. Same with MTG who is also trying to raise her profile and distance herself from Trump.
December 16, 2025 at 4:41 PM
My guess is Wiles is trying to establish her own image outside Trump's. Significant to us as its yet another Trump insider sensing the beginning of the end. Too obvious?

If I had to guess, the "liberal subtext" its that all the zombified people are so nice to each other while Carol is so self-centered and sort of the villain so far. It is not so hard to see which one is muy MAGA.

Putin realizes that if Trump propped him up more than he does already, it would likely have the opposite effect.

I'm guessing it is because they want to leave control of when a rebuild occurs in the hands of users. I may be giving them too much credit but it wouldn't surprise me if there are situations which would make something more automatic unworkable.

I think we should allow that some people intersected with Epstein without being part of his "hobbies", or even have any knowledge of them. If we convict without evidence, we are part of the problem. At a minimum, it's lazy. This is not an endorsement of Chomsky.

This views AGI through the narrow lens of LLMs currently being created by AI companies. There are lots of reasons to think they are not on the path to AGI. However, they represent only a tiny island in algorithm space. Computation always depends on the h/w but algorithms are even more important.

I didn't read the NYT article so can't judge it but I find I kind of like the title. So many voters who elected Trump and his henchmen act as if they've never considered this question. If the title gets them to think about it, it's a win.

I feel that way too but I tend to be analytical and read a lot of science and sci-fi. Also, it is not happening to me so I can afford to think about it from a distance. Seehorn's character seems overwhelmed by a "why is this happening to me?" sentiment. Still, where's it going FOR US?

Turn it into a mass immigration center.

Maybe his goal with attacking Venezuela is to make us all complicit in his lawlessness. It is how Mafia bosses recruit.

I hear the price of those red hats he likes is going up soon.

I'm sure it is not as fun as it once was.
