I get what you are saying- but again i'm thinking of it as a way to stir shit among Rs in House- not woo them. And to try Jeffries would need the D caucus on board and to be clear about the intention. But if there isn't revolt against Johnson it doesn't matter.

I think almost anyone would be better than Johnson. He's just an abject institutional surrender guy. But I'm not aiming to capitulate in that I don't think anyone outside the House Rs would happen in the end. But I do want the fight- of Ds "reaching out" to anti Trump Rs, and more R House chaos.

I don't know if you all can peel off a couple of Rs but if there is a Speaker challenge that comes out of this I think you should back someone like Mike Pence or Larry Hogan as a temp Speaker until the new Congress in 2026.

As an outsider she seems to have been a good governor and knows how to get elected statewide. However she will be 79 when sworn in if elected and frankly that does seem like a problem.
