It is what it is. Welcome to my eclectic eccentric running account where I post my daydreams and thoughts. Phil Branigan Basingstoke based runner.
An oopsy tumble day yesterday. Never mind. What doesn’t kill me, makes me stronger.

A nice eight and a bit mile run today on my plan, something I am really looking forward to. It gives me the opportunity to truly run mindfully, taking in my surroundings whilst daydreaming about many interesting things.

Today I had so much fun mixing up my training by alternating between using tarmac and grass.

My training plan has switched to the tapering phase as, I am running the Henley half marathon on the 1st September. The next two weeks are going to be so much fun as I find this stage so amusing and interesting. I am very disciplined. Sometimes 😊

Here are some pictures I took at yesterdays Basingstoke parkrun. I quite like the first one, I just pointed my iPhone at the sun and took the photo.

Basingstoke parkrun was so much fun this morning. Great turnout in lovely summer sunshine. I had a go at barcode scanning for the first time using my iPhone. It all seemed to work well. Kudos to everyone who took part.

You can always tell a romance book is American when the showers run cold. They don't appear to have combi-boilers or electric showers...🤣🤣

A beautiful day in Lyme Regis to visit Mary Anning's gravestone & look out over Jurassic Coast & sea.

My favourite images this week, taken whilst out and about #running around #basingstoke My training has been going exceptionally well as I have achieved every target set by my coach. It just goes to show that you do not need to run non stop. Taking a good photo gives you a well deserved breath break.

It’s such a delight being here. I have opened the app whilst enjoying my second mug of tea and read posts about: running, hiking, nature, poetry etc. None of the doom scrolling like the other platform. Keep it up everyone as, this is the way social media should be. The simplicity of just being nice.

This isn’t about me, it’s about everyone else in the running community. I am absolutely fascinated by the posts I am reading. This platform is becoming so inspirational and supportive. Here are more pictures from my 27,000 step day but, to be honest, I’m absorbing fellow runners content.

Nearly twelve thousand steps done before lunch and I have a ten kilometre training session later on. I love days when I dawdle to work and back and I manage to bag over half of my targets in one go. On my morning stroll I saw these interesting things. More to follow after my run.

I am reading about how many people are joining this platform from the UK. I hope some of them are daydreamers and runners like me. Being part of a global community is wonderful but sometimes you just want someone local to have a beer with after a race. If anyone is doing the Henley Half let me know.

A very enjoyable daydream run this morning

This morning I have a longer slower running session on my plan. I will be heading out at 9:30 am as that’s the start time for my next half marathon in Henley at the beginning of September. What I’m looking forward to most is my daydreaming time. I love being able to just drift around thinking.

Chasing the sunshine on my run this evening. It was great to unwind and have a nice think whilst trotting around my neighbourhood.

I think I have done everything right. I have followed some interesting looking running accounts and liked some great pictures. Let’s see if the algorithm can deliver the results I want to see. Me? Here I am and where I live in Basingstoke in England. Hello @bsky.app world

My first task is complete. I let the Bluesky algorithm decide for me so, congratulations @stevewjj.bsky.social as, your wonderful pictures whilst out running put you top of the list. It’s the type of inspiring content I want to see.

So, the first thing I need to do is follow some like minded people. I’m going to take the time to try and find fellow runners who are not just reposting their same content on different platforms. I want to link up with anyone who just writes how they feel when running.

I created this account on Monday 12 August 2024. It is just a place for me to share my running thoughts and experiences. As I put in my description, I won’t be reposting data here. I am going to be posting how I feel. This morning the sun is shining and it’s already nice and warm the way I like it.
