What’s more astonishing: 1) that the president clearly believes, and repeatedly suggests, that asylum seekers are people from mental asylums, or 2) that no journalist has ever challenged him on this and no mainstream media outlets have done any deep dives on this story?

If a president wanted to become effectively a dictator, he’d likely:

1. Purge govt of non loyalists
2. Weaponize law against opponents
3. Use military to police opposition strongholds
4. Threaten media, schools, businesses w penalties to get them to heel
5. Change election rules in his favor.

”People often become what they scorn. Donald Trump has become the deep state.

He is the keeper of the secrets. He is the one stealing away people’s liberties. He is the one weaponizing government and protecting the ruling class.”

New in PN: ABC is too cowed to state the obvious about Stephen Miller

"Miller and Trump are hateful bigots. Independent journalists can still say that. Journalists at ABC can’t, because the president gets a veto over their coverage. That’s not democracy and it’s not a free press. It’s fascism."
