Business leaders’ efforts to cut preschool for all completely underestimated the importance of early child care to our economy and parents. So does @oregonian’s news coverage. Moms and parents spoke loudly and clearly and stopped Brim Edwards proposed cuts.

Preschool for All is smart public policy. And top earners are growing in the County despite the misinformation from business lobbyists. We ask reporters to and leaders like Governor @tinakotek.bsky.social to check the facts.

The mission of Portland Street Response is to provide an unarmed, compassionate 911 response to assist people experiencing a crisis.

They respond to 911 calls that would have previously been dispatched to armed police officers or otherwise received no response.

A lame duck Council should not be making sweeping reactionary policies at the request of a DA who hasn’t even taken office yet.

Let the newly elected Council, our most diverse ever, decide when they take office in 2 weeks.
For those curious, the city's once-dead graffiti ordinance (which sticks offenders w/ jail time) was brought back to life for Portland's final city council mtg of the year tomorrow, as a request by incoming DA Vasquez.

While I’ll be in person to be accessible to constituents, non front facing employees shouldn’t have to be. This is antiquated. Work from home equalized the workplace in so many ways for women, parents, caregivers, people of color, etc., why should we take that away?
Portland's new mayor is making one of his first moves in office (well before office, really) to be requiring city staff back in their offices after several years of hybrid work.

It was...not well received.
Portland city employees balk at Mayor-elect Wilson’s return-to-office proposal
A call from Portland’s next mayor to require city employees work from the office more frequently isn’t sitting well with many city staff.

I co-sign every word of this op-ed. What I heard overwhelmingly on the doors in East Portland is deep skepticism that voting for local elections mattered considering every other election failed to represent the needs of District 1.

RCV was a huge win for East PDX!
