Hundreds of people in Minneapolis, MN gathered to push back on militarized police activity involving ICE and Homeland Security agents. When the community members demanded that law enforcement leave the area, they were shot with rubber bullets and pepper spray, and three were taken into custody.

CBS News reports that the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office has stated the raid was an execution of warrants and was not related to immigration enforcement. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey also released a statement saying, "I'm aware of the operation federal agencies carried out today near Lake and Bloomington. While we're still gathering details, this incident was related to a criminal search warrant for drugs and money laundering, and was not related to immigration enforcement. No arrests were made." FIFTYFIFTY.ONE 50501 OTHERS AT THE SCENE SAY IT WAS AN ICE RAID Reporters from Sahan Journal state that 30 officers were on the scene, wearing uniforms or badges identifying them as Minneapolis police, FBI agents, ATF agents, and ICE personnel. In an interview around noon, Ryan Perez, an organizer with COPAL, mentioned that his organization was alerted to the law enforcement presence at Cuatro Milpas restaurant at 11:30 AM. He confirmed seeing Homeland Security Investigations agents on site. Sahan Journal also reports that Minneapolis Council Member Jason Chavez stated that the officers were discussing the execution of a warrant and claimed it wasn't related to ICE, yet he observed individuals with visible ICE badges. WHICH COMMUNITY WILL THEY UNLAWFULLY TARGET NEXT? Will it be your community? Over the past few weeks, we've witnessed this administration become increasingly bold, continuing to abduct people off the streets while wearing masks. This behavior is shameful. Although these kidnappings are on the rise, so is the resolve of the people to stand up. Today, Minneapolis showed up and told law enforcement to GTFO. Thank you for standing up for your community.
