Having folks enjoy board games is our glorious purpose. He/Him in the Mid-western United States.
Pro: FLGS, small publishers, great boardgames.
Con: shelving vertically, gatekeeping.
There are just so many amazing more modern boardgames out there. I've played Catan to death.

Show me your boardgame shelves/storage! I need ideas for the new house.

Should the UNDO TURN button be available when it's the other player's turn?

This is the fastest I have ever gone from idea to working boardgame prototype. Gunna do some solo playthroughs over the next week or so here.

Me to every guest who makes the mistake of asking about my boardgame shelf. "I've already described most of the boardgame to you really. We might as well play it now."

Plus we like to sometimes draw pictures to accompany some of the game names. So we have gears for RoboRally, a circus tent for SCOUT, Bunny ears for Bunny Kingdom, and a variety of colors for Sagrada:

My boardgame group's completed play board for 2025. Every game night we sign the date of game night, who attends, & games played. The result is a canvas that reminds us of all the fun we have around the table each year. I use it for art in my game room. Actual stats are tracked via #BGstats app.

And don't forget this whole Malcolm in the Middle episode around the boardgame March and Conquer (Risk). An absolute gem.

My favorite running gag in Malcolm in the Middle is the patched together nonsense boardgame they have in the foreground of some shots where they need the kids to be gathered together. They literally have quartered boards from checkers, Sorry, Life, & Backgammon put together.

You and I are very different in game taste. Glad there are so many heavy games for people (beyond me) to enjoy!

Here is mine from about a year ago. Still pretty accurate.

How can we choose? Don't make me choose a favorite board game.

Is it boardgame night yet? This has been an absolutely grueling week and it's only Tuesday...
January 6, 2026 at 8:35 PM
Since game night is on January 1, this rounds out my year of boardgames. What am I dying to get back to the table? Ra, Cosmic Encounter, Scoville, Potion Explosion, & Galaxy Trucker.

I'm not on YouTube but yup that's me! Works well. It's just colored Sharpies on paint canvas. Date of game night, games played, and who participated. I use it as art for the game room (they sit on top of my game shelves and the last complete year is on the wall. 2025 coming soon!

I was absolutely on fire last night for (digital) boardgames. Winning 7 of 8 games played on BGA with my weekly game group. I had to use up all my remaining luck for the year.

Oh easy. That's Quacks of Quedlinburg (new version is just called "Quacks"...has more cartoony artwork now. Same game tho).

That's one of my top 10 favorite games!

How adorable are these little avatars in #BGstats?

Any guesses at which one I am?

Carcassonne is a great time. A few illegal placements though. You can't place a tile if it doesn't connect everything properly to the tiles already placed. Can't have roads or cities drive into fields. Makes the game a bit trickier!

Boardgame plays for November. Also played Sagrada, a few games of Can't Stop, and hours of Uno with the extended family but I only track games related to my boardgame group. As always PitchCar was a big hit.
