Costco is partly able to do this because they treat their staff well. That combined with COST's good business model has helped the stock rise 200% in the last 5 years. Shareholders don't want them to change a thing!

WBD has been cancelling and shelving projects since WB and Discovery became one company. It's bewildering that an entertainment company is reducing their output. But it makes more sense when you find out CEO David Zaslav's compensation is tied to free cash flow. Incentives = outcome.

I know the word "religion" gets overused, but I do think it's helpful to think of capitalism as a religion with its own tenants, rituals and sins. And things like empathy and community are functionally sinful in the religion of capitalism. A true zealot like Zaslav prides himself on avoiding them.
Sesame Street wasn’t just about letters and numbers. It was also about empathy and community.
