Thank you Jan - as I was using a 1280mm equivalent lens I wasn’t that close to him, but I guess he took exception to me in any case, despite my being in the gloom of the bush edge. Considering we were both in twilight shade I think his iridescence is outstanding. 🙏🏼

Thanks Bob - those photos are a great comparison of a couple of look-alikes. We used to have Pine Siskins here in numbers, but I haven’t seen one in years. 🙏🏼

Fascinating - thank you for your interest and encouragement. Are Japanese Nuthatches full of self confidence? Ours are very self possessed, going about as if they own the place. 😊
