- Zohran Mamdani, the Democratic nominee

- Andrew Cuomo, who lost the Democratic nomination but is running as an independent

- Curtis Sliwa, the Republican nominee

Mayor Eric Adams had also been running as an independent but recently dropped out.

So the deputy attorney general at doj is now claiming “an act of war” by a specific gang in Chicago. That is very specific language and it is intentionally being used to justify the next actions they will take in the invasion of Chicago and the descent into open police state violence.

(RNS) — Last month, the Rev. David Black stood in front of a Chicago-area U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility and spread his arms wide. Adorned in all black and wearing a clerical collar, the pastor looked up at a group of masked, heavily armed ICE agents on the roof and began to pray.

“I invited them to repentance,” Black, a minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA), said in an interview. “I basically offered an altar call. I invited them to come and receive that salvation, and be part of the kingdom that is coming.”

But when Black began to lower his arms a few seconds later, the agents responded to his spiritual plea by firing pepper balls, or chemical agents that cause eye irritation and respiratory distress, video footage shows. One struck Black in the head, exploding into a puff of white pepper smoke and forcing him to his knees. Fellow demonstrators rushed to his aid, and as the pastor rubbed his face in pain, the agents continued to fire.

“We could hear them laughing,” Black said.

Here's my rough sketch of the spectrum of US political opinion when it comes to Israel/Gaza and where different political groups fall:

Support for Israel ethnically cleansing Palestinians and annexing Palestine
- some GOP  Support for Israeli war on Gaza/West Bank because Israel has a right to defend itself
- much of GOP, conservative Dems  Ceasefire in Gaza
- some GOP, many Dems  End offensive weapons shipments to Israel to force a permanent ceasefire in Gaza
– AOC, many progressive Dems  End all aid to Israel (including Iron Dome)
- some progressive Dems  Boycott, divest from and sanction Israel
- Right flank of DSA, Zohran, Rashida (This is the furthest left that elected officials will go)  Refusal to condemn Hamas because resistance to occupation is justified under international law
- DSA center  Adherence to al-Thawabit and support for armed Palestinian resistance as an anti-colonial movement
- DSA left

At least 15. Eric Adams was endorsed by 13 law enforcement unions (representing cops, prison guards, probation officers, etc.) and that didn't include the Police Benevolent Association (which hasn't endorsed yet) or the Deputy Sheriffs Association (which endorsed Cuomo).
