Together with other invited guests I yesterday had the pleasure to witness the launch of the largest maritime total defence exercise in Sweden since WW2 at Donsö near Gothenburg as well as a fine seminar on protection of shipping organised by Svensk Sjöfart and Kungl Örlogsmannasällskapet .

Ah yes, who can forget the Hitler-Stalin-Truman summit that we still celebrate every 8 May, Negotiated Settlement in Europe Day. Or when Emperor Hirohito and Truman cordially met in Hawaii to agree mutual territorial concessions and end the war. Those were the good old days.

Jag menar att det blir allt tydligare att Trump kommer försöka tvinga Zelenskyj (och Europa) att ge bort Donbass mot ”säkerhetsgarantier” - som de redan hade sedan 1994. Om Europa visar ryggrad blir det en spricka USA/Europa. Ryssland vinner i bägge utfallen.
Mina slutsatser efter mötet är att linjen ligger kvar sedan Trumps tillträde. Om inte Zelenskyj (och Europa) inte accepterar ett ”fredsavtal” enligt Kremls diktat, så kommer Trump två sina händer och skicka Putin två

En indikator på att det är stora saker på gång är att det är de centrala aktörerna i de bägge statsledningarna som möts. Tyngsta ministrarna, högsta tjänstemännen och så presidenterna. Det här har varit i säck innan det kom i påse.

EM, Gatoradereklam. Minns WIT-utbildning i Kabul där jag åt fransk kontingent tolkade fyllig amerikansk lärares filosofiska resonemang runt en Gatoradeflaska. Det visade sig att problemet inte var språket utan det för fransoserna fullkomligt otänkbara att dricka sportdryck för jobb i kontorsmiljö.
