Thank you for sharing what you know and making the fan base aware.

I will note very clearly that I am NOT saying it IS true beyond a shadow of a doubt because I do not have hard evidence to corroborate it. I am saying that I trust the people I spoke with who tell me it is true. But officially this remains hearsay.

I will also say that speaking purely based on personal opinion and speculation that this would be a weirdly specific lie to tell and it's hard for me to surmise what would be gained from lying about this.

I don't know who this person is either so I cannot vouch for their credibility. I'm just putting it out there for transparency and if it turns out not to be true then I will profusely apologize for spreading the rumor, but if it's true, I feel people deserve to know.

(Just noting that I have seen multiple posts from different people saying more or less this same thing.)
January 23, 2026 at 10:00 PM
Well if this is true it’s even worse than we originally thought. I have no way of knowing if this is true and I hope it’s just a shitty rumor. I don’t like trafficking in gossip, but I also don’t like the fan base continuing to rage about the loss when it was possibly entirely justified.

Yeah. It's like, "different creative direction" than the one universally beloved by the fanbase? Okay then.
January 23, 2026 at 4:10 PM
Oh god that would make me sick. Idk, I think it's more likely he ends up on a national broadcast because that would be a true "promotion." But if YES is willing to be on the same page with him in a way SNY was clearly not, then who knows?
January 23, 2026 at 3:40 PM
It makes me wonder whether this is part of a buildup to a sale of the network.
January 23, 2026 at 3:32 PM
When you spew a whole thread of thoughts and then realize you made a typo in the original post. Sorry friends. I was distraught! It will just have to stay there.

I'm sure John will go on to do amazing things. I'm not a betting woman but if I was, I would absolutely place one on him ending up on a national baseball broadcast, which would be great for his career. But it sucks that it seemed to be not on his own terms.
January 23, 2026 at 3:23 PM
I usually don't say confidently that I speak for the Mets fan base, but in this case I do believe I speak for the Mets fan base when I say that this is legit devastating. SNY broadcasts are art. They're magical. And they just lost a lot of that spark that made them so.
January 23, 2026 at 3:22 PM
The Wilpons still own SNY so I'm absolutely choosing to blame them for this. Feels familiar. Feels right. Feels like home.

The Canadians would not be represented in this sample at all. This is among people who are registered to vote in America only. You can register as an Independent (unaffiliated with either of the two major parties).

THE LAST PART. We did that.
January 22, 2026 at 11:43 PM
Agreed I think there’s a pretty good shot of it happening.
