By having the ghost runner in the regular season but not the postseason when the games matter most, baseball is admitting that the rule makes the product less good.

Of course not. The tension of a 9-inning baseball game in October is higher than a 9-inning game in July too. But I enjoy extra inning games because I like baseball. So more of it is good. I’ve been to a 17-inning game in person not even featuring the Mets and I stayed the whole time. It ruled.

Me too. I'll never forget that game because it was a nationally broadcast game so it was one of the only games I was able to watch in my college dorm room that season. I watched the whole thing.

One last thing if you’ll allow me to put my scientist hat on for a sec: there is actually very little evidence out there about how menstrual cycle affects athletic performance because this stuff is (shocker) chronically understudied. So these men are betting money on ideas not backed by science.

I saw a Reddit post the other day from a woman who found out her partner was secretly tracking her period on his phone and setting himself alerts - not to know when to maybe get her heating pads or chocolate or whatever, but to know “when to expect arguments.” Infuriating.
