Americans have learned a somber lesson from recent events—that it's tragic and reprehensible to shoot a lone politician from long range in front of cameras at a public rally, but that it's totally meh to shoot a politician, their spouse, and their dog at close range in the privacy of their own home.

We can't allow ourselves to become numb to mass shootings. What happened today in Minneapolis is heartbreaking, and Michelle and I are praying for the parents who have lost a child or will be sitting at their hospital bedside after yet another act of unspeakable, unnecessary violence.
