J'avais justement répondu à un appel à témoin sur l'IA dans le monde du handicap (artiste PoV), mais rien de ce que j'ai écrit à été utilisé dans l'article du coup je le poste ici, si ça peut intéresser 🫶

C'est assez long mais j'ai essayé de faire le plus compact et pertinent possible.

caps d'un texte: J’ai été diagnostiquée autiste il y a quelques années, plus récemment TDAH et je suis illustratrice/autrice bd depuis 20 ans. J’ai toujours eu énormément de mal à trouver du travail à cause de mon incapacité à démarcher et à une réelle difficulté à me mettre en avant.

Ce n’est que dernièrement que j’ai réussi à m’améliorer dans l’exercice de la promotion sur les réseaux et c’est, hélas, le moment où le métier d’illustrateur est en passe d’être effacé par l’utilisation de l’IA générative.
Je suis très active dans la lutte “contre” cette technologie, pas par pur “traditionalisme” mais parce qu'elle me pose énormément de problèmes -éthiques, légaux, environnementaux, mais particulièrement à cause de l’utilisation du handicap comme excuse pour promouvoir un outil “d’accessibilité”.

Dans un élan humaniste et inclusif qu’ils n’ont jamais eu auparavant, ces grands défenseurs des droits du pauvre handicapé se sentent pousser des ailes quand il s’agit de contrer les “anti-IA” en mettant en avant cette petite créature incapable et innoncente, qui peut désormais, grâce à cet “outils révolutionnaire” créer des oeuvres et ce, malgré sa limitation !

Parler au nom des personnes en situation de handicap a toujours été une passion pour les valides, un syndrôme du sauveur qui ne sert en vérité qu’à couvrir la commodité qu’est devenue leur machine à plagiat pour ne pas avoir à payer un créatif dont le travail a été pillé.

Le handicap a toujours été présent dans l’art, comme une impulsion, un moyen de communication, une revanche, une vocation, un besoin vital qui empli certains. De toute heure, l’art et le handicap vont main dans la main et cette idée, qui vaut bien une thèse à elle-même, balaye la théorie de ces justiciers du Dimanche: On ne vous a pas attendu pour trouver des façons de créer et nous l’avons fait sans voler personne.
Des artistes utilisent leurs bouches, leurs pieds ou même le mouvement de leurs yeux pour concevoir leur art, des personnes non-verbales s’expriment. L’idée même de réduire la création à un rendu final “digne d’un illustrateur professionnel en seulement 2 lignes de textes et 3 minutes de réflexion de la part d’une machine ayant avaler l’intégralité d’Internet” est une insulte au combat et à la volonté même des artistes handicapés qui essaient de survivre dans un monde qui ne veut déjà pas d’eux dans les espaces publiques et qui trouvent un refuge dans le domaine de l’art, dont on nous évacue également au profit d’une solution “moins chère”.

Plusieurs choses sont intéressantes dans cette hypocrisie: La première étant que les défenseurs de cette technologie, soit disant si sensibles à la cause du handicap, sont les premiers à crier haut et fort “Adapt or die” - Adaptez-vous ou mourrez- Quoi de plus validiste que ça?

Mourir, c’est le futur de notre profession si cet “outil” n’est pas régulé car, comme expliqué précédemment, énormément de personnes en situation de handicap sont présentes dans le milieu de l’art, du graphisme ou autre domaine créatif.
Tellement d’éditeurs, enseignes et autres marques donnent aujourd’hui une légitimité à cette pratique en l’utilisant sans la moindre honte au lieu de donner du travail aux gens qui en ont besoin pour survivre et qui, depuis le début, tirent la sonnette d’alarme sur les risques d’abus de cette technologie, fragilisant davantage les plus vulnérables.
Bon nombre d’artistes handicapés qui n’arrivaient déjà qu’à survivre, sont maintenant dans une situation de danger face à la diminution catastrophique du nombre de contrats ou de missions depuis la démocratisation du Dr Frankenstein numérique.
Car il faut également parler de la base même sur laquelle est façonnée cette innovation: le pillage pur et simple.

Les modèles des IA génératives ne sont qu’un amalgame de contenu “scrappé” et volé dans tous les recoins de l’internet connu, une base de données faites de milliards d’images dérobées, sans aucune autorisation, ni même mention (et encore moins compensation), des auteurs y figurant.
L’IA ne fait que régurgiter ce qu’elle a pillé: une image dont, aussi bien assemblée soit-elle, les coutures sont bien visibles.
Les artistes handicapés, déjà précaires, qui essayent de vivre de leur travail ne sont pas exemptés de ce cambriolage et sont, bien entendu, priés de “s’adapter ou de mourir.

Je ne peux pas être du côté de cet “outil”, catastrophe environnementale, pilleur d’identité et d’opportunité, validé par et pour les profiteurs d’un système capitalisant sur la fragilité des artistes handicapés, broyant leurs créations pour matière première en les regardant agoniser pour m’entendre dire: “quelle merveilleuse invention pour les personnes en situation de handicap”.
