SCOOP: Last year, Ubisoft cancelled an Assassin's Creed game set during Reconstruction. Was to feature a Black Assassin who, among other things, fought the rise of the Klan

Sources: Leadership nixed it over concerns re: U.S. political climate, backlash to Yasuke

I have friends who think Lorne is actually in the MAGA camp and this is one of the reasons why. (Other decisions and hires over the last few years as well.)

The way I have been describing Baby Steps is "what if you put like Silent Hill style motivation and characterization in something that is ostensibly a comedy", which is why I am getting so much out of it.

Bari Weiss is set to be named the editor in chief of CBS News, the New York Post reports
Paramount Skydance is poised to name Bari Weiss as editor in chief of CBS News in the coming days — giving the hard-charging journalist unusual clout to revamp the struggling network as it also acquires her scrappy news site the Free Press, The Post has learned.

Weiss — a 41-year-old former New York Times opinion writer who has built the Free Press into a buzzworthy site with a contrarian bent — is expected to be named to the top post in a Monday announcement, although the talks are in flux and the timing could change, a source close to the situation said.

In 2002 we were lamenting how big box stores had destroyed all the actually good stores that were owned by couples who had been married for 72 years and had dedicated their lives to selling their random obsessions like gathering sea shells to make tiny vacation scenes you put in your bathroom.

I was conscious in 2002 and not seven years old and I can tell you that Walmart sucked ass in 2002 just like it sucks ass now.

This is doing numbers on social media right now and it's so depressing how people truly yearn for this shit and want to preserve that feeling indefinitely like a mausoleum of false memories.

My general belief is that Dems need to spend more time thinking about what they believe and less about what they think some imaginary swing voters want them to believe.

Political strategy will stem from an authentic set of beliefs.

This was revealing. Worth reading. The basic demand is that Coates spend less time thinking/writing his true feelings and more time playing political strategist. Klein asks him over and over him to do Dem strategy; he says no, over and over. www.nytimes.com/2025/09/28/o...

Worth noting also that not only did the right run with this -- the mainstream media did too. Klein's doing right now what they did on the day. They all picked this comment and it was all you heard. Republicans focused on it but the "liberal" media helped them because it always helps them.

The “deplorables” comment took off like it did because it dropped into a 20+ year campaign of misogyny & batshit anti-Clinton conspiracy theories that had come to suffuse GOP political culture. It was a gaffe, but it became a meme because of how GOP backlash politics works. Republicans have agency!

I’ve heard Ezra now twice take one part of Hilary Clinton’s “deplorables” speech, without mentioning the rest of it, which does exactly what Ezra calls for Dems to do. I recognize that we have a politics of sound bits, but in full context the speech hits differently than he suggests.

Never ever ever ring or make stupid text noises but if my wife calls me I want to hear it and pick up so she's not mad at me, does the technology exist

Is there an Android phone setting where I can make it always be silent, in every case, and especially for incoming phone calls, except when my wife calls me I want it to ring audibly, is that a thing
