Practical thread on keeping BlueSky real now that celebs are arriving and we've got trolls masquerading as politicians. This should be useful for:

Celebs
Politicians
Journalists
Academics
And anyone else that wants others to be sure that they really are who they say they are.

I'd second this, fwiw. Every expert analysis I've seen of how toxicity spreads on X notes that any engagement with the toxin, even as rebuttal, ridicule, pillory, is just a variant of amplification. Block the bad, share the good is what works.
Remember: Bluesky is not Xitter!

The goal is to build something better

One key thing to do is "block and don’t interact"

Don’t quote post dumb posts

Don’t reply to bad actors, trolls, reply guys, and extremists

Just block them

Life is too short to be wasted on idiocy and toxicity

bluesky is the short king of social apps

in all seriousness, we're up against incumbents that have repeatedly lost your trust. we're young and consistently growing, and we're building an open social network that puts users first. we're very excited to have you along for the ride 🦋

Just finished reading @samfr.bsky.social's 'Failed State'. Fantastic book that has really helped me realise *why* things in government that seem so bad are so bad, a centralised executive fuelled by the media cycle and unmatched by a dysfunctional civil service and underpowered regional government.

Very striking how much of a gap has opened up between left and right in concern over immigration.

Look at the average and it’s “Britons are getting pretty concerned about immigration”.

Split by party and it becomes “Some Britons are now extremely concerned about immigration, others much less so”.
