also you know, knowledge has been free since the public library was invented! you are not primarily paying for knowledge at a university. I'm not being idealistic here; you are primarily paying for the *certification* of being a university graduate, with learning thrown in on the side.

sometimes i ask myself why i attached to DA so hard, and no matter how hard i try to articulate it myself, that one bsky post that read something like “while the world attacks us, they had us defeat dragons” just so perfectly summed it up idk.

Men's loneliness is talked about as if women don't suffer from loneliness, too. They should simply address it the way we do, by having a quiet ongoing existential crisis, questioning our own self-worth, and creating vivid, plot-heavy imaginary relationships with non-threatening fictional men

History requires deep, extensive research a lot of that research will end up not being directly relevant. You won't know that until you get in it. Research isn't just pulling a doc with all the answers, it's finding connections, it's understanding what's *not* being said, it's knowing context.
