just as a reminder for those who share "Christmas greetings in Jesus' own language! Whoa!" videos every year:

Saying "Jesus spoke Aramaic, which means he spoke Serta-phonology Western Syriac" is about as accurate as saying "Charlemagne spoke Frankish, which means he spoke Afrikaans"

My favorite example:

Tasawaq (northern Songhay, Niger) originally had yo "camel", yoyo "camels" (yo is a plural marker)

yoyo became a singular.

So now we have yoyo "camel" and yoyoyo "camels"

Today in “Arabic dialects don’t come from classical Arabic”. Several dialects have a pronominal -t ending, e.g., Egyptian an-nās dōlat, “those/these people”. This, afaik, isn’t attested in classical Arabic but is found in several other Semitic languages. This feature thus didn't come from MSA.

Historian focusing on early modern book culture here. I am not sure that feeding a private company with all our past handwritings from archives is a solution or a way forward. Google‘s AI studio is a data trap. #skystorians
Gemini’s ability to read handwritten archival documents has importance beyond the humanities. It opens new frontiers for scientific research and collaboration with the humanities.

Si França no pot fer-se càrrec del seu patrimoni arqueològic i artístic, un país més civilitzat hauria de preservar-lo perquè pugui arribar en condicions a les properes generacions. No és açò el que deien i diuen els espoliadors francesos, alemanys, britànics, etc.?

Tl;dr: fascists are losers who demand to be taken seriously and they view sciences as a source of legitimacy, so they like to dress their BS ideas up to look sciencey and that's why when you look at fascism you will find pseudoscience.
