I think of this video often. We shouldn’t be fighting the same fight. Waiting for comfort and decorum isn’t the way. Progress happens when you don’t stop.

Is the deconstruction movement a problem to be solved — or a prophetic voice, resisting a distorted gospel?

On this podcast, New Testament scholar @scotmcknight.bsky.social contends church leaders should lean in and listen to “deconstructors" rather than shunning them.

NT scholar Scot McKnight contends the deconstruction movement isn’t a problem; it’s a prophetic voice resisting a distorted gospel.

Gen Z didn’t vote as the polls predicted. But as a former trad wife who escaped a Christian Patriarchy cult, I think we’re looking at the evidence of a careful and patient campaign.

I'm a Former Trad Wife. I Know Exactly Why Young People Voted for Trump
The lure of simplicity is understandable, but it's really a tool to spread Christian Nationalism.

“Don’t feed the trolls” also extends to bad opinion pieces in papers of record.

They run them bc people react to them the most.

If we stop linking to bad columns and instead post thinkers we find valuable (& generate convo around it), incentives change.

It’s not easy and takes constant practice!

Wanna make America great? Proceed in humility. Listen. Consider others as more important than yourself. Love others as yourself. Treat others as you want to be treated.

Trauma does not heal apart from being spoken and it needs to be heard in the context of a safe relationship where the dignity of the one crushed is restored.

"As hypocritical as the religious right can be, religious—generally Christian—impulses have at times tempered American conservatism. However, now we see signs of a cynical irreligious right." From the archives, @joshuatait.bsky.social:
The Growing Religious/Secular Rift on the Illiberal Right
Christianity’s emphasis on forgiveness, suffering, the meek and poor runs totally counter to the tendencies of the New Right and National Conservatism.

Unfortunately, most people don't believe things because they're true. It's impossible to overestimate how many problems in society derive from this.

So true. When you live in deep red areas, Republicans will say terrible things about Democrats while remaining *deeply* sensitive to any slight from the left.

On the Christian right, they view their insults as courageous truth-telling, while similar rhetoric in return is treated as persecution.
if you live around conservatives, a common bumper sticker reads “liberalism is a mental disorder.” you’ll see effigies of dem politicians, unhinged screeds about satan-worshipping dems written on lawn signs. this stuff gets ignored while any hint of condescension from liberals is treated as endemic
