Many of us stand with trans people because it's the right thing to do and because we know history. And because autocrats always come for the defenseless first. Democrats need to make this point again and again and again instead of backing away from embracing the most vulnerable.
It feels impossible to explain to others how many trans people, already living in a world that hates and fears us, are completely on edge right now, every minute of every day, waiting for the eventual Trump order for our complete eradication.
