On a hot summer afternoon in 1964, Dorr Legg, a representative from ONE Incorporated, a gay rights activism group from California, landed in a wooded clearing deep within the Louisiana swampland to meet someone he hoped would assist his organization with funding.

About a day into his talks with the mysterious potential benefactor, the young man, who Dorr thought must have been a teenager, asked if Dorr would like to meet his lover. Door acquiesced, and the man brought him to his personal estate and to a glassed-in porch enclosure.

Movement is a great way to deal with trauma and stress. Both of which are stored in your body where it will fester until you release it. It can be simple and calming such as yoga. Energetic and joyous such as dance. Or it can be strenuous such as martial arts, running, and weightlifting.

Erikson's legacy included the Erikson Foundation that had early publications regarding how to transition. Very easy to read them as products of their time, but there are some... not great things in them as well. Most are at archive.org I believe.

If you’ve listened to this show at all in the past checks notes ever, you’ll know that we take the definition of jazz reeeeeal fast and loose ‘round these parts. We’ve played everything from DJ Spooky to Last Exit on the program at some point, and we’ll be pushing that envelope even further into the weird this evening with Osaka’s own whirlwhind of cutesy, zany violence: Midori.

Fronted by vocalist, DJ, and chaos elemental Mariko Gotō – seen to the left over there in the teddy bear outfit and occasionally seen taking her panties off onstage and throwing them at the audience – Midori draws two of its founding members and a lot of its sound from noise-punk act Usagi., and whooooooo BUDDY does it show. The quartet’s entire discography is filled with the kind of barely coherent, whiplash-inducing, and extremely danceable arrangements that would make the cats from Naked City take a powder.
