Oh that’s so frustrating. Mistakes happen so I get it but I just feel like you gotta get some outside feedback before distributing a pattern to the masses. Not everyone’s gonna be able to figure stuff like that out!

I'm still learning how to read charts. For whatever reason, the walls of text have made more sense to me than drawn charts, but I'm slowly getting the hang of them.

And I couldn't have known that before purchasing, which is the most frustrating part. I really want to make this blanket for my mom! It's a Twin Peaks blanket, I know she'll love it, but I'm annoyed that I have to fill in so many blanks.

That's so weird to me because crochet can get SUPER complex, so I feel like patterns - especially paid ones - should be vetted beforehand. I've only been crocheting about 4.5 months and thankfully I've figured out how to account for minor missteps in pattern writing, but this one feels egregious.

There’s also super obvious stuff that should be included but wasn’t, like when to turn, when to change colors, etc. For me that was easy to pick up on, but I feel like it should also be included.

Crochet pattern writers should have QA teams or something. I’m having to figure out what this pattern wants from me as I go because it wasn’t written in a way that makes it clear. Thankfully I was able to figure it out, but considering I paid for this pattern, I feel like I shouldn’t have to.

unfortunately, a lot of white trans people haven't done the work to be anti-racist and don't notice how they mistreat and dehumanize Black and brown trans women.

you gotta put the work in. bring POC into your social circles.
