Coincidently, I got my hands on a variant of this chip this week: the AM9080AD1B (a military grade variant of the 9080 made in 1977). An interesting piece of silicon history for sure!

I don't think it's strange for a modern built-in motherboard BIOS RAID array. From the search results I was getting, it's somewhat typical for AMD-RAIDXpert2 and RAID1 to have performance issues. Since yours was RAID5 the throughput isn't comparable.

Forgot to mention this is a RAID1 array. For that extra sense of safety and security :D

The internet said Windows RAID often performs better. Sure enough, after setting up a new software RAID array, I've never hit speeds this high before! (and this is copying off of a USB 3.0 external backup drive)
