Book pusher & library nerd. I'd love to know what you're reading! Audiobooks definitely count as reading. It's never too early or too late.

If we can only have art from people who "aren't in it for the money" that means we can only have art from privileged middle-class dilettantes. Making art being a viable career is responsible for nearly all worthwhile art, and if it's not a viable career any more we will get drastically less of it.

Not like it would be justified if they were drug smugglers, but I think it hasn't gotten enough focus that a boat with 11 people onboard heading from Venezuela to Trinidad was almost certainly migrants. These were probably, at least for some of them, people fleeing Maduro. That's who they murdered.

I've been reading so many books lately that are just... Not well written. I should have been an editor lmao.

I love that we're getting stories from people who would never have been able to share them before, but damn, self publishing through Amazon sure lowered the overall quality of books >.<

This morning, I rewrote my opening chapter in third person ( before it was in first person). I sent it to my editor and we both agreed...this is not as good! But sometimes when working on a novel (or a creative project), you have to try somethings to see if they do work. Back to first person we go!

It's cool that "Dems lead by 20 points" etc etc but that's also what everybody said in 2024 and then white liberals didn't show up to vote for Harris. We need to keep reminding people that the polls don't elect anyone.

Spotify has laid off thousands in recent years, while reportedly paying artists $0.003 per stream.

Spotify profits rose 28% in Q3. Its CEO is worth $9.8 billion. It's making money off ICE recruitment ads.

Don't you think it's time put a wrap on corporate greed and exploitation?

the economy is understimulated because people aren't buying things

to counter this, we should stimulate the economy with stimulus checks

in order to bring stability, we should keep doing it consistently, perhaps every month, for every person, universally

it's quite basic really
