This brings me joy. On so many levels.
I regret to inform everyone that my pedantic brain couldn’t let me live until I knew whether or not dodger blue and blue jays blue are the same blue. They are ONE PANTONE NUMBER APART.

Skimmed past this image thinking it was a still from Zone of Interest. Nope. Just a man doing the on-the-ground dirty work of the rich and powerful (mainly) men turbo charging the racist and xenophobic projects of late stage capitalism to maintain their power and maximise profits and reach.
Here is Gregory Bovino, the man in charge of ICE agents in Chicago.

I can’t believe this was 27 years ago. Never forget.
On this date, Matthew Shephard died 27 years ago. He was beaten, tortured, and left for dead on fence for being gay. Please keep him and his wonderful mother Judy in your thoughts. And let's all work for a world where such horrific things do not happen to anyone. ❤️🏳️‍🌈

Art weekend; Pt 3
Balkan Erotic Epic at #AvivaStudios
Felt at home the moment I went in and found my groove (and I sometimes struggle with crowds, noise an chaos).
Not here.
Don’t think I can go on making art in the same way now.

Art weekend; Pt 2
On Sat we saw #MarinaAbramović talk about her new work showing at #AvivaStudios in Manchester. She looked beautiful, older (don’t we all) and very ordinary (why wouldn’t she). And it was a joy. Her work’s a revelation that I only truly saw after The Artist is Present.

Art weekend; Pt1.
My new exhibition — “Dwell” — (with Mel, she’s the paint, I’m the words) is on at the Wilmslow Guild For Lifelong Learning. Last Friday we had a mid-exhibition viewing. 14 people came. And over the course of its time at The Guild, 1000s of folk will experience it. #art #poetry

If you are near Wilmslow in greater Manchester tomorrow night and like paintings and poetry, we are celebrating our
Med-inspired exhibition DWELL at the Guild for Lifelong Learning (in Wilmslow 😉 ) Fri 10 Oct, 6.30pm. Join us for art, words and extreme GIN! Just like fiesta time in Menorca 🍸

So true…
"Having a knack for it" vs. "has practiced this repeatedly" - a reminder that expertise isn't magic, it's built through deliberate practice.

"Look at her face.

This is Major General Lorna M. Mahlock, USMC, the first Black woman in Marine Corps history to reach general officer rank. A trailblazer, a warrior, a woman who's earned every credential, medal, and command in her story."

Perhaps things would have turned out differently had America only — embraced its Indigenous soul.

“Strange Fruit” - performed here by #BillieHoliday - along with “Four Women” written and performed by #NinaSimone, are 2 of the most important songs of the 20C.
Billie Holiday's "Strange Fruit" is an iconic protest song condemning lynching in the American South. First recorded in 1939, its vivid lyrics use "fruit hanging from the poplar trees" to represent African Americans murdered by racial violence.

“Starmer’s government says there’s no money to scrap the two-child benefit cap and lift 500,000 children out of poverty — but there is £200,000,000 for Elbit. Israel’s partner in genocide.

This obscene deal must be stopped. They have Palestinian blood on their hands.”

WFH downside. Important call @ 10:00. 🐱 decides to bring up an only partially-digested largish mammal in three separate sites around the house: one section right by my standing desk.
