#Irlen
My one take on "Charlie Kirk" is, DOOO you have any plans for the weekend?

I'll be picking up another pair of blue tinted Irlen glasses. I have one pair but the frames are rather boring so I only wear them for work, but my new frames are Vivienne Westwood branded so they'll be functional AND fab 😊

What I have is actually Irlen syndrome (the words move) which is super fun, but this combo of font + color managing can help people with lots of issues - the color decreases the contrast/blinky effect (dark mode for me is even worse) and the font is just way easier to read

For context: I have a reading disability that’s “similar” to dyslexia, it’s called Scotopic Sensitivity Syndrome, or Irlen Syndrome. This causes letters to jitter, shake, blink, fall off, and blur together on a page the longer I try to read. I have special glasses to make it easier for me.

I’ve always been curious about the Irlen Method. I don’t know anyone who has tried it, but if you are looking for ideas: irlen.com

A1:

I have Mears-Irlen Syndrome and monocular vision.

I struggle to read black and white and to cope with busy patterns and glare and very bright colours.

I have poor depth perception, distance judgement and struggle to relate 2D to 3D e.g. when trying to read maps or draw.

Q1: Do you experience any visual processing difficulties? This can mean differences in depth perception, how you perceive motion, distinguishing between shapes, visual overstimulation, or other things, too. Share as much as you like. #AutChat

If you are a veteran suffering from TBI pain/exhaustion/outbursts, please contact Wounded Warrior about getting a trip to the Irlen clinic. The protocol there has had great success with symptoms that no other treatment can offer so far.

Irlen Syndrome PSA: I’ve just turned on a color filter and set it to toggle on & off by triple clicking the side button. GAME CHANGER!
for iOS, it's Accessibility -> Display -> Color Filters flip them on and choose greyscale
I changed my phone to grayscale and I feel like I just quit meth. It's unbelievable how much less of a hold it has on me now. Highly recommend trying it!

I’m formally diagnosed as dyslexic and mearles irlen syndrome. My parents were told I wouldn’t amount to much when assessed back in 70’s as having a low IQ. My mum who’s 86 is clearly autistic. I see it now. Though I do experience imposter syndrome without the formal diagnosis.

É o único livro que lembro de ler por completo .

Na época n tinha descoberto a síndrome de irlen e nunca conseguia ler um livro por completo

E depois era tarde demais, nunca peguei o hábito de ler, por isso que odeio textos

I am reading about an MLM I signed up with. It includes a gemstone biomat, & I have 4. It includes colored lenses in glasses like Irlen, and I have them. It includes earphones that are placed over the mandible, not the ear canal. There are frequencies and music to help self care with allergies!

I urge you to go online & take a free quick self-assessment for Irlen Syndrome. It reaps havoc with numeracy & literacy by interfering with tracking ability. The remediation is so simple is it hard to believe, but you CAN believe it! 🤞Best wishes!

www.salon.com/2025/01/07/t... Umm, I freaking LOVE this article. I’m not so precious as to take the stairs (lol!) but I get it. Wherever I live lamp placement is the first thing. Apparently I also have something called Irlen syndrome sooo…

High contrast isn't always better, black on white can be harsh for users with Irlen Syndrome, for instance. It's like watching a red text on a blue background. #accessibility #a11y

From early interventions for literacy challenges to recognising conditions like Dyslexia, Autism, and Irlen Syndrome, education has come a long way. But looking back, how did we ever expect every student to learn the same way at the same time?

This is what an example of what a student with Irlen Syndrome sees while reading. It’s difficult! Coming up tonight, I spoke with teachers and staff in #PalmSprings in how they’re getting trained to help kids with this condition. @KESQ

They acted up because I had the Audacity to try to pick up new glasses before exercising. Whenever I get glasses it is a two step process. The normal corrective vision glasses and then I have them get an Irlen Lens film put on them to deal with my extreme Light Sensitivity.

I taught reading and language to adult learners. We also screened for Irlen syndrome, a light sensitivity issue easily solved by the use of color overlays. I culled my book collection regularly and put books out for people to take for free- and they all were taken.
