ghosts of language

in the certainty of your death
i couldn’t cure
the restlessness in my bones—
a hollow ache
to move.

so i folded thousands
of paper birds,
floated them from my flatmate’s window—
boats and lanterns,
ghosts of language
i couldn’t speak.

the tongue still seeks
what burns,
the quiet ash
that follows,
the slow knowing
i am burning too.

Life, continued.

Lots of time spent in the #library
The local one was in a #dungeon
Long gone now, a bitter ode to that!

Once lived in a city called #satellite
