i constantly think about this post
Curious to read this book 🌱

Personally, I don't fear AI; I fear the people who want to control it and commercialize it and who are enforcing it on all of us, on top of that, without caring or targeting any of the main social problems we have at present. 🌎🔥

Misinformation is one of the world's biggest threats to public health. And governments are not doing enough to protect us.

Social media companies should be held accountable for spreading harmful misinformation in that same way we hold manufacturers responsible for spreading harmful chemicals.

A company that set itself sales targets on products that (now clearly) nobody needs or wants.

I do hope keep reading that people stopped buying the trash that most companies want to force on us… “Viva la résistance!” 🙌

This is wild to me. “Customers resist products” - in what universe have we made companies so powerful that they can unilaterally force their products on us like we’re some kind of lower type animal?

I think this also has to do with how executives are "big picture" people, who don't fuss over details. So maybe they care less about the issues with AI making up shit, because it doesn't have as much impact for them? While the lower ranks are expected to get the details right?

There is a direct correlation between how fake your job is and how much value you see in AI
A study by Dayforce shows 87% of executives use AI for work, compared to 57% of managers and just 27% of employees.

I think this explains the massive disconnect we see in how CEOs talk about AI versus everyone else. It also raises the question of how useful it truly is for frontline work?
Execs are embracing AI more than their employees are, new research suggests
Research from HR software company Dayforce suggests that executives are leaning into AI far more than their employees.

I don’t have prime and I don’t buy at Amazon since 7 years ago. I also rarely buy online.

2 years inside Amazon were enough to me to understand how evil that place is.

There’s also a great recent deutsche-welle documentary about its exploitative practices with vendors youtu.be/6r3x2t872Pc?...

Same
I don’t know if anyone else notices or cares, but when I see a presentation in which the speaker uses obviously generated-AI images to illustrate their slides, it makes me immediately less confident in whatever other content they’re presenting.

Sometimes, being a woman in tech means patiently waiting after having proposed the correct solution to a problem from the beginning, but being ignored for about five hours, even if you keep repeating the same, until everyone else discovers the solution you mentioned earlier in the conversation ☺️🌸💕💅🏼

I think it’s sad when I see people getting anxious during Christmas 🎄 season for the pressure it puts on them.

Buying all the presents. Cooking things they don’t like for people they don’t like. Having the perfect holiday trip. Don't miss the offers. Start thinking on New Year’s resolutions…

One of my ongoing frustrations with software engineering as a professional practice is that LLMs were in no way the thing that caused this (though they do exacerbate it). Every company I’ve seen in my career fetishized producing solution-shaped objects for problems they didn’t (care to) understand.
"writing code to solve a problem" used to have "understanding the problem" as a prerequisite. but vibecoding allows solution-shaped objects to be produced without any of the hard-won understanding. beware of solution-shaped objects.

DOGE did not fail in any way to accomplish its goals.

Its goals were never efficiency or saving money.

Its goals were to destroy as much of government as possible forever, and to steal data for the Space Nazi.

DOGE is fading away like bank robbery gangs fade away after the robberies are done.

Me learning about diVine, “and other stuff”, Nostr

jack dorsey but it’s not profit.

The head of engineering at truth social is part of the nonprofit but projects are about open source.

They promote AI to create software with a single prompt but also promote decentralization and collaboration 😮‍💨

Jack Dorsey is real close to Musk.

DiVine is made by RabbleLabs, on their site you will find a widget called "And Other Things" that takes you to another domain and explains a lot of stuff about their/Nostr's Ai.

Most likely they just want a free dataset of tons of actual videos to train on.
Oh yeah btw the reason why Vine is being relaunched with great fanfare and no Al is because it's jointly operated with an Al company and they probably don;t want to pollute their scrap pile with stuff they've already shat out.
