I have lost count of how many people are using my Libby account 💀 but I always see the most random books pop up on my account and can almost always guess who is reading what.

in a voice room today someone asked me if i'm algerian lol. honestly, that is a huge ego boost if my accent in french doesn't automatically give away the fact that i'm from the U.S... but also, this sounds like an insult to algerians 😂 #french #languagelearning #delf

5 months ago, I accidentally told a coworker I was pregnant while practicing French. Last week we had a real conversation and she was shocked at my progress! She told other French speakers at school, so now they all talk to me in French. I'm actually doing it this time! <3

I just had a conversation in Spanish and when I told the guy I’m from the US he said “born and raised?” 😂 The ultimate compliment is when people are shocked to find out I’m from an English speaking country LMAO #spanish #languagelearning

The other day I had a Lyft driver from Cameroon & I was lucky enough to be able to practice French with him! He was very nice and said he was surprised that I could have a conversation because apparently most Americans who tell him they’re learning French only know how to say “Bonjour” 🤣 #french

Yesterday I taught my third graders letter-writing as a fun activity. Some chose to write to celebrities & wanted to translate their letters into the celebrities' languages. Now they're asking me about German cursive handwriting, which I know nothing about 😂

I’m watching a show in Dutch, and I can’t help but think that this must be what English sounds like to people who don’t speak it 🤪

When you study another language, ordering a sandwich is an adventure, instructions on a package can be exciting, reading a road sign can be a victory.

Life is never boring

I started French because of the music and the literature. I loved a book that was originally written in French, and when I tried to read more books by the same author I realized they haven’t been translated yet 😭
How many of you have started another language because something very important to you - some movie, text, song, etc - was in that language?

Even if there is a translation or subtitle, you wanted to experience the original?

Spent a year trying to speak Italian with my neighbor because he said he was Italian. Just learned he’s actually Venezuelan... no wonder our conversations were always so short! 😅
