Ahh. Up West. I was all over the E End, from Aldgate East to East Ham, and finally a couple of years in New Cross, but I can confirm that after 36 years in Derbyshire I amn't going back. Other than for social purposes obvs. I get invites to some nice do's at Goldsmiths' Hall ⭐

I wasn't a regular, I was generally in the pubs in Whitechapel, but the Prospect was quieter and had more atmosphere in you fancied a change. We were usu in the Hungerford Arms on Commercial Road, or Grave Maurice or Blind Beggar either side of Whitechapel tube.

Ooh it's a few years since I was in the Prospect. I'm thinking close to 40...

Close your eyes when you hear the tap of a hammer on a chisel. Thankfully it doesn't last long.

Not going to lie, this would totally change my life. Not specifically because it would give me ‘more money’, but it would regularise my income in a way that’d mean I could work in a more organised and sensible way on a broader range of projects.

Damn. This is amazing. £325 per week, paid monthly, for 3 years - and the result was a profit for the Irish economy:
www.citizensinformation.ie/en/employmen...
Post from Threads user rodneyowl: "Ireland has declared the Basic Income for Artists scheme permanent. This will be officially announced in tomorrow’s budget. Details to follow. Congratulations to all who fought for it and the present and future artists of all sorts in Ireland. That includes me 👌We’re just comin to the end of a 3 year pilot scheme. It’s been a roaring success. For every €1 paid out to the 2000 participants, the government got €1.46 back. Can’t argue with that. Other countries are already taking note."

#SkyStorians, I'm looking for #MedievalSky and #EarlyModern paintings, engravings & other visual sources that depict screws.
(N.B. I'm not looking for depictions of screws in technical sources on this topic).
If anyone has come or comes across them, I'd love to know! #HistSci #HistTech #ArtHistory

Salivary gland cancer is rare, but raising awareness can lead to earlier diagnosis and better outcomes.
However, research is decades behind other cancers.
Sharing data is vital to inform understanding and develop effective treatments & therapies.

Today is Salivary Gland Cancer day. 11 years ago I had an SGC tumour treated by the NHS. These tumours are rare, hard to treat & have a poor prognosis so I am lucky to be here. I'll be selling some #lettering to raise money for SGC research soon... #SGCDay

This article manages to name her husband before it names… her.
Article reads:
Woman named as Archbishop of Canterbury in historic first

The 63-year-old archbishop-designate is married to Eamonn Mullally, with whom she has two children. Originally from Woking in Surrey, she was the UK's chief nursing officer from 1999 to 2004.

Every few months now I re-read this "Who Goes Nazi?" piece from 1941 and am blown away by how it captures the people we are dealing with 80 years later.
