Oct. 8. “Cordyceps”: Giant Cordyceps with human intelligence. They still need to infest other, now larger, creatures to utilize their mobility and speech. Riding assorted hosts, they’ve developed a full society, with cities and diplomats. They demand recognition.

Oct. 7. “Rats”: You wake on the top floor of a condemned, heavily boarded building. As you try to find your way out, you find that some doors are blocked by fallen beams and debris and that some walls have (gnawed?) holes in them. You make your way through holes and…

Picked up this delightful looking game over the weekend. Terrific layout, interesting rules, a very fun little read! I hope to take it for a spin someday. Still going for “name your own price,” but definitely leave them some coins for it. Totally worth it!

I’ve been very excited to get these, and they’re here, and they’re beautiful! Excellent quality books, they remind me of the rule books of old. They smell awesome. I hope to be able to play sometime soon! Thanks, everyone at #MCDM!

I was dearly hoping that Chicago would stand up to this insanity, and it looks like they’re trying. This is an excellent stand, though it leaves some very large questions.

HAPPENING NOW — This morning, Mayor Brandon Johnson signed an executive order establishing “ICE-free zones.”

“That means that city property and unwilling private businesses will no longer serve as grounds for these raids,” Johnson said to applause.

Love/hate relationship with the monk class. So many options to make them cool in games, but I refuse to believe they can hurt someone wearing almost any armor by punching them with their bare hands. They also need to feel super-different than fighters. I’d rewrite the class from the ground up.

Oct. 6. “Deep Sea”: Before the fall of the Magic Empire, a great city was built at the bottom of the ocean, accessed by portals in the kingdom above. However, the empire has fallen, the deep city destroyed. But portals remain. Things from the deep have found them.

Oct. 5. “Prairie”: An open prairie stretches for miles between two trade villages. The locals insist travelers use the road that goes dozens of miles around the area, though, because the prairie is infested with feeding bulettes.

There’s a No Kings protest on October 18. I made this sign for the occasion.
A black & white photo of comic book artist Jack Kirby with an orange-yellow graphic of a crown superimposed on his head. He sits at his drawing board with a pencil in his mouth, holding a trademark cigar. Beneath his head is a word balloon with the words “punch nazis!" At the top right of the image are the words “No Kings but Kirby,” the letters in bright orange and yellow halftone pattern.

Oct. 3. “Caverns”: There is a series of caverns that turn living creatures to stone, but not the things they carry. Clever people have made long tools to harvest those turned to stone near the openings, but rumor tells of an enormous gold pile somewhere within, beneath a dragon of stone.
