And now, a note on Bill Owens who, until this past week, was the executive producer of 60 Minutes.

We’ll be back next week with another edition of 60 Minutes.

Wooly mice!

I feel like there's tons of bioethics issues here, but I'm too fried to do a deep dive.

Going forward, im going to be posting puzzles once a month rather than once every two weeks - basically, I'm going to run out of puzzles if I don't.

In the meantime, I'm going to try to regularly post snack-sozed articles on topics of interest!

I'm sorry for raining on this parade, but the "transgender mice" talking point is bullshit, but not because someone mistook "transgenic" for "transgender."

The blog post that kicked it off (from a partisan bullshit website) listed a number of papers testing the effects of sex hormones on animals.

So, this amazing thing called "life" happened, which means the solution to the current puzzle will have to wait until Saturday!

On the other hand, that gives everyone another couple of days to answer.

I've seen a swarm of calls to protests. Coordination is important, and this group seems to be the largest so far.

Great thoughts from Grant Sanderson on education. Easily applies to all subjects. Similar incident turned me away from music for 15 years.

Trivia Question 2:

Two mathematicians Alice and Bob each think of an integer between 1 and 60, inclusive.

Alice: "Is your number 1/2 of mine?"
Bob: "I don't know. Is yours 1/2 of mine?"
Alice: "I don't know."
Bob: "Is your number twice mine?"
Alice: "Yes."

What are their numbers?

Hi, everyone!

Answer to last week's question - the closest planet to Earth, on average, is actually Mercury!

And, interestingly, it's the closest to every other planet as well!

Venus is not Earth’s closest neighbor
Calculations and simulations confirm that on average, Mercury is the nearest planet to Earth—and to every other planet in the solar system.

It strikes me that most people could name a bunch of science communicators, but not actual researchers. That's not to diminish science communication as much as to point out a disconnect.

So, how many people can actually name five current working/publishing scientists and what they do?

So, it's Saturday, which means it's trivia day (these will be Thursdays in the future).

Today's trivia question - what planet, on average, is closest to Earth?

Do not post the answer! DM me if you have an idea.
