Increase in productivity since 1979: 87%

Increase in hourly pay since 1979: 32%

Just so happens that ~25% of workers were unionized in 1979. Today? 10%.

As unions declined, the super-rich have taken a larger share of wealth generated by labor. We must build back union power.

Fewer than 3 million Texans bothered to vote this week, but that didn’t stop them from rewriting the state’s constitution — again — mostly in ways that make life easier for property owners, business interests, and the already comfortable. ⬇️
‘We Gave Tax Cuts to the Rich and Made Life Sh*t for the Poor.’ Texas Just Passed 17 New Constitutional Amendments.
All told, these new breaks (along with other recent efforts to reduce property taxes), will cost Texas around $50 billion next budget cycle.

People of Illinois, we need your help.

Get your cell phones out – record what you see. Put it on social media. Peacefully ask for badge numbers and identification. Speak up for your neighbors.

We need to let the world know this is happening – and that we won’t stand for it.

My advice to Democrats today and assuming the government shuts down at midnight tonight?

Don't cave! Tell the public what’s at stake.

This vote was to start the process of the cuts. It WILL come back for a final vote.

There are some chances to slow or potentially stop it. Need constant pressure on GOP

Focus on GOP swing seats & key committees. Energy & Commerce is where the Medicaid fight will go down. Ways&Means for tax fight.
@aoc.bsky.social
Please explain what just happened. Is there no way to stop this w the reconciliation to be used by GOP to get around the filibuster? Are we sunk?

If you wanted to cut waste, fraud, and abuse, you would empower the inspectors general.

If you wanted more waste, fraud, and abuse, you would fire them.

Wait. Have @doge and Elon just been pulling numbers from usaspending.gov ?

Then releasing it as if they discovered it ?

Brilliant if true. Absolutely brilliant. Fooled me.

Very Trump like too.

Any usaspending.gov experts out there that can tell us ?

Received a letter from POTUS today purporting to remove me as Commissioner and Chair of the FEC. There's a legal way to replace FEC commissioners-this isn't it. I've been so fortunate to serve the American people and stir up some good trouble along the way. That's not changing anytime soon.

This is why you don’t surrender in advance.

The flagrantly illegal can be stopped.

It sucks that it’s falling to ordinary workers, not, say, the police, or Chuck Schumer with an NBC camera crew manning the line.

You know, the ppl whose job this actually is.

But they can be stopped.

Trump's first two weeks back in office has been filled with chaos and dysfunction. But none of it is random.

It's part of a plot to spread cynicism and get you to check out.

Oligarchs don't want you to keep paying attention. That's how they win.

Don't tune out. Don't let them win.

I honestly believe our most powerful position in a toxic time that feeds on cynicism, apathy,& despair is to genuinely care and act for a better world.

Cynicism is our enemy. We should check it, incl. on the left. It’s not intellectually superior. It’s the virus they’re trying to infect us with. NO

Trump blaming last night's tragic crash on "DEI" isn't just racist nonsense.

It’s part of his divide and conquer strategy.

He wants to get us so riled up against one another that we don’t look upward and see where all the power and wealth have gone.
