“The emails and Microsoft Teams chats confirm that Parks and Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) staff continued to work on the upgrades for months after a December community meeting on the project…”

A major intersection redesign near Seward Park was ready to go to construction with a Mayor's Office review the only impediment, records show. The exchanges reveal what was happening behind the scenes as the public was kept in the dark about the upgrades.

It’s wild that Bruce Harrell is lying to voters about supporting Vision Zero—he’s personally killing safety projects

Even more wild that we allow “the community” to veto proven safety measures. Like, are the rich people along LWB okay with 50 pedestrian injuries a year? 10? 5?

Gonna be thinking about this lede for a minute.
(RNS) — Last month, the Rev. David Black stood in front of a Chicago-area U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility and spread his arms wide. Adorned in all black and wearing a clerical collar, the pastor looked up at a group of masked, heavily armed ICE agents on the roof and began to pray.

“I invited them to repentance,” Black, a minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA), said in an interview. “I basically offered an altar call. I invited them to come and receive that salvation, and be part of the kingdom that is coming.”

But when Black began to lower his arms a few seconds later, the agents responded to his spiritual plea by firing pepper balls, or chemical agents that cause eye irritation and respiratory distress, video footage shows. One struck Black in the head, exploding into a puff of white pepper smoke and forcing him to his knees. Fellow demonstrators rushed to his aid, and as the pastor rubbed his face in pain, the agents continued to fire.

“We could hear them laughing,” Black said.

I think it’s because he peaked in college. Guys who spend their time idolizing their high school and college sports accomplishments are a very particular sort of sad

I think the harrell story that broke me was when he hired his friend tim ceis to the tune of $280,000 (just under the 285k limit that would require a public bid for the work) astroturf opposition to a CID station with actually good connections to other transit

I had so much fun helping to man the photo booth for Seattle Solidarity Budget at today's public hearing on the budget! Many of the workers at City Hall were just as starstruck as I was to see The Seattle Channel puppets IRL!
A display at Seattle City Hall features six handmade sock puppets arranged in a row, each representing a City Councilmember, with black nameplates identifying them as Kettle (District 7), Rivera (District 4), Nelson (Position 9), Saka (District 1), Strauss (District 6), and Juarez (District 5). Above the puppets is a large white cardboard frame labeled “Solidarity Budget” with a raised fist logo in red and green. The background shows a modern lobby with wood-paneled ceiling, windows, and seating.

Our absentee Mayor who is, as staff say, "not into the details" only intervenes once in a while--to overrule staff and screw thing up.

See:

-Shrinking Seattle's housing plan ("comp" plan)
-Trying to move Sound Transit stations away from people, while increasing costs
-Ripping out safe biking space

What the records show:
-Major elements of the LWB redesign, like the changes at Orcas Street, nearly went out for construction before being killed by the Mayor's Office
-Parks staff were continuing to negotiate over individual elements of the project as late as early June.

Until some Democrat says “Enough” and puts the force of government at their disposal behind their words to physically stop the kidnappers this will continue.

Words alone won’t stop it.

Pritzker needs to use his state troopers and natl guard to block the invasion

In the press release where Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell lambasted his opponent Katie Wilson for dropping out of college, he also suggests she will "quit and walk away" when "things get tough in our city." You know things are tough when the mayor is attacking his opponent for something she did at 21.

Just wild lack of self-reflection by Bruce Harrell. Like *why* is his parents former house worth $1M? What was his role as a councilmember & mayor for 12 years? He complains Wilson was “born into privilege”, ignoring his massive gained privilege (wealth, power). What has he done with his privilege?

We need to do more than speak up. We need you to use your force to stop this illegal activity. The IL State Police, the IL Natl Guard should be out blocking this illegal and unconstitutional activity

It's Prime Day so here's your regular reminder that:

- Amazon has been exposed for throwing away millions of unused products each year
- Amazon emits MORE CO2 than Hong Kong & Denmark
- Jeff Bezos earns more in 1 MINUTE than many of his workers do in a year

Overconsumption is KILLING our planet

Bruce Harrell's attempts to paint @wilsonforseattle.bsky.social as an outsider when she's lived here for 21 years are actually pretty reflective of the way he treats his constituents. Those who weren't born here like he was or who aren't wealthy like he is are not worthy of his consideration.

Bruce Harrell spent tons of taxpayer money to keep private shelter rooms empty, because his administration (which is known for being vindictive) didn't like the lady that runs the program.

Is that the kind of @mayorofseattle.bsky.social you want, Seattle?

NEW: After paying for hotel rooms to shelter homeless people, Seattle deliberately left them vacant.

By the end of 2024, taxpayers were spending $4,200 a month per empty room at a time when thousands of residents were without a roof over their heads.
Seattle Spent Millions on Hotel Rooms to Shelter Unhoused People. Then It Stopped Filling Them.
Early last year, the city signed a $2.7 million lease extension to continue using a hotel’s rooms as shelter space. Yet despite committing to pay the rent, the city stopped sending people there.

Seattle Mayor Harrell has repeatedly mocked his opponent, Katie Wilson, for saying she wants to add 4,000 new shelter beds over four years. Meanwhile, his administration was wasting millions keeping available hotel rooms empty.

Serious question: What's stopping the State of Illinois from arresting Stephen Miller & charging him with incitement?

The Senate didn't confirm him. He's just a guy.

At some point, the states MUST use their authority to prosecute, because the federal government certainly will not.
