I want to talk about rational prepping that doesn't involve just hording lead and brass. None of this is dumbed down so use this as a spring board to research broader topics and educate yourself. If you don't understand the need to prep I can't help you.

Washing out and filling up bath tubs before a storm is smart too. You should also fill up all the water bottles and drinking glasses or jars you have in your home with drinking water. If you fill up all your cooking pots and pans before hand as well that adds up fast.

Non potable water is also useful to have on hand for flushing toilets or washing clothes or other items. Before a storm wash out and fill up your plastic trash cans with water for a large source of non potable water. In a real emergency you can also treat this water further for drinking if needed.

Sodium Hypochlorite Bleach is one of the most common water treatment chemicals used by municipalities around the world.

Prefilter your water through a sock or t-shirt and be mindful of where you are sourcing it. Not to close to roads or sources of pollution.

As we are moving into an era where federal disaster relief is facing massive cuts. Clean water storage is the most important preps to have. The simplest water prep is a fresh bottle of plain unscented bleach(sodium hypochlorite NaOCL). 1/2 tsp per five gals of water or double that for murky water.

Teslas market cap is now half of what it was in December. Remember kids Nazism never pays. Also what the hell is the board even doing letting that moron still be CEO? If I was an investor I would be sharpening my pitchfork. #shortesla

If you're at all interested in community #preparedness and reliance or #prepping in general I recommend attending a NWS Skywarn weather spotter training. It's interesting and I guarentee everyone you meet will be like minded.

To be fashionable, wear as many radios as you own.

Is Elon hitting him behind closed doors? Is he pinching him maybe? Prepsky demands a full congressional investigation? Are these bruises caused by Russian prostitutes? Are we witnessing Elons elder abuse in real time? I'm just asking questions folx! #news

@npr.org Why hasn't NPR reported on the fact that Trump is referring to himself as King??? Again and again you throw away journalistic integrity in order to cover the new regime with soft gloves. NPR grow a pair of non binary gonads and cover this regime with some courage!!!!!!!! #COWARDS

The biggest energy use for most folks will be heating during the cold. Propane is my fav prep for heating and cooking silently and safely. Propane has no shelf life. A big buddy heater and a camp stove are two basic preps that will keep you short term.

Storing a few cans of gas gives you a lot of options when things go sideways. Use a stabilizer like Stabil or Pri-G to stabilize it. Stabilized gas can last up to two years. If your old gas is sus mix it with a little fresh gas before use.

One of the lowest cost options for back up power is to have an inverter for your gas powered vehicle. This gives you on the go power or at home power for different things. A good inverter and a few cans of gas is the most attainable first energy prep.

If you do have offgrid solar, then having one of the vehicles in your household be an EV is a really smart choice. A) it allows you to be fully self sufficient in your vehicles charging and allows you to travel when others can't. B) When the car is at home it allows you to have an extra power bank.

#12 Full off grid built in solar systems are the gold standard of off grid power. Able to provide power for ten plus years with minimal maintenance they are a quiet and fuel free option to discreetly power your house. Solar systems are unlikely to attract negative attention due to their ubiquity.

#11 Built in whole house generators plumbed into Nat gas or your propane tanks are a top tier way to have back up power. These systems generally cost thousands to purchase and to have installed. But once they are installed they are a time tested and automatic back up.

#10 Inverter generator #technology is slightly more expensive but much quieter and more compact then an open frame generator. Models like the Honda EU 2200 can be daisy chained together for higher energy output while still being very quiet and fuel efficient.

#9 Dual Fuel and Tri fuel generators are a huge asset during outages. They can run off of gas, propane and Natural gas.
Running off propane makes them super low maintenance and reduces issues of carbs getting gummed up and fuel going bad like gasoline only gens can run into. #prepper #prepping

#8 Solar power "generators" are solar panels with plug and play battery banks. Jackery, Bluetti and Goal zero are some of the big names. These are totally silent and produce no fumes like a gas genny. Companies also offer a range of products like fridges or freezers that are popular with Vanlifers.

#7 Portable power banks are almost a modern edc essential for everyone. They even make them with solar panels now to charge your shit anywhere anytime. Small enough for your edc bag or purse They can recharge your phone, lights and if you get the big ones from AutoZone they can jump your car!!!

#6 Coordinating all of your power tool batteries with one brand and style gives you a serious multipurpose tool to power stuff. Not only will they power all your important tools for rebuilding or recycling but they hold an immense amount of power to charge your electronics.

#5 A Universal Power Supply for your router seamlessly maintains one of the most universal comms we have in our homes. Most phones automatically sync to wifi calling nowadays and that is a decent back up if other comms fail.

This is also useful if you have wifi cameras set up.

Solar Yard lights in any other era of human history would be a magick akin to Aladdin's lamp. Capturing the sun all day and then lighting your home minus soot and the smell of burnt whale oil all night for less then $10-$20. A prep that blends seamlessly with your beautifully landscaped garden.
