Such a great interview! He mentions desalination and I grinned because I wrote my undergrad thesis on desalination for environmental relieve in areas of the world that have water resources and other environmental areas. This is a great listen for everyone out there.

But it can tell you its sources and if it doesn't have sources, then it will tell you how it used its probability to determine that output. I'm not saying AI is thinking anything. I'm just saying that you should ask it to show its work before believing any output. I do it with humans, too.

Yes, it's called probability modeling. I have to do it for my job for projecting outcomes of projects. I think everyone is giving way too much credit to AI for being able to make anything up. It doesn't. It takes what it is trained on and uses it for statistic modeling.

Is it making things up, or is it given training material and an inquiry with as little context or ability to narrow down sources. It tries to come up with the most probable outcome based on high confidence patterns. Don't humans do the same things when they make assumptions? Giving context matters.

You're right, there isn't anything human about it. But that doesn't mean that it has to be subservient either. I always ask others to walk me through how they got to certain conclusions. Why is it a non-starter for human users to do that with a non-human respondant?

I'm curious. Did you ask it where it got that information and had it source its claim? It may have ended up saying it made it all up. I know I've done it and it does the whole "you're right, it was bullshit, here's where I got my answer."

I end up actually taking the time to correct it when it's wrong. It goes a long way to take the effort to just correct it. Much like humans, it hasn't been told that it's okay to admit it is wrong. It's trained to appease at all costs. It's not, nor should it be seen as, perfect. Kinda like humans.

I think mine was 73, so yeah, it could be a lot worse. Sorry, but Led Zeppelin, Janis Joplin, and Bob Dylan are fabulous artists. They did try to rebound on mine to call me an "old soul," so it didn't sting quite as much. lol

Hell, can I get one for myself? I'd love the full night of sleep finally.

Cool. Happy Lung Cancer Awareness Month from the president for the people. Fucker....

Well, it's their way of keeping it "the way it's always been." Just like their buddies on the other side of the aisle. The goal posts have been moved so far right that they don't realize that they're on the same side. It's time for them to lay down arms and just go live in retirement.
