Even #LGBTQ people who are raised in the most progressive communities often have gaps in their understanding of queer history. This thread shows why it's important to never stop learning and exploring our own origins.
(long🧵) Watching some gays & lesbians celebrate that heinous UK Court ruling against trans women has me again thinking about how little most gay people know about their own history. No, I'm not rehashing if trans people were at Stonewall (they were). I'm talking about the long arc of what it even...

We are SO PROUD of everyone who is keeping up the momentum at the protests today!

Do NOT allow these fascists to erase our humanity! Marginalized Americans and #immigrants deserve to be seen, valued, and CELEBRATED for our contributions to this incredible nation!

"If citizens endorse the idea that people named by authorities as 'criminals' or 'terrorists' have no right to due process, then they are accepting that they themselves have no right to due process."

Denying #lgbtq and #immigrant rights will not stop there.

We're glad to see the records about Harriet Tubman were restored.

But this is just a preview of more absurd revisionism to come. They will continue trying to erase marginalized Americans from history and public life.

We must not let them succeed.

Non-binary representative SJ Howell is definitely an American we should all be proud of!

This is a great example of what happens when the voices of non-binary Americans are heard and valued rather than erased.

Erasing #trans, #queer, and #intersex people from history was only the start. Now fascist amnesia is being applied to Black people and slavery as well.

We are fighting back. Our movement has been silenced by the media here—but we are not backing down. This is what our streets looked like across multiple cities. Tomorrow, there will be more of us! Raise a glass to freedom.

"The review is ongoing and meant to comply with the policy and not erase history."

If a Up-is-Down and Down-is-Up policy was issued, the Pentagon would make everyone stand on their heads.

Complying with a policy designed to erase people is erasure. Period.
