Back to TTRPG talk for a bit (well, probably a while), but one thing I enjoyed from my attempt at solo-ing Project Galileo (a Trophy Dark game) was that I wasn't playing characters to survive.
I mean, one *did*, scarred as they were by the experience (and yes, it was the one I wanted, yay!), but -

I can think of so many games that are more accessible (and cheaper) than DnD, and, honestly, more homebrewable too. I can hack some systems just by changing a table and what "arcs" it has, and others are generalist *anyway.*
