Excellent report making a strong case for what would be imho a very beneficial reform - compulsory voting works well wherever it has been used, it would improve the health of our democracy at little cost.

My new Constitution Society report on compulsory voting has now been published.

I argue that low turnout has left the UK with an unrepresentative electorate. This is creating warped incentives for politicians, and contributing to low growth, high inequality, and rising democratic discontent.
Universal Suffrage? The problem of low and unequal turnout and the case for compulsory voting  - The Constitution Society
An authoritative new report from Dr David Klemperer advocates for the introduction of compulsory voting at UK general elections.

Great to see so much national media coverage for my report on 'Barriers to research on sex and gender'.

It's time for universities to tackle this issue.

The UK definition officially changed in the 1970s, but many of us were still schooled in the older definition in the 80s. So it's a poor choice of question if the idea is to show people are ignorant of basic facts - this 'fact' has altered over time.

Is there a religious revival in England?

@sriucl.bsky.social's David Voas raises questions about a recent report claiming that Gen Z is leading a rise in church attendance after decades of religious decline. It appears the devil is in the data.

Is there really a religious revival in England? Why I’m sceptical of a new report
In Anglican and Catholic churches, average weekly attendance is down about 20% from pre-pandemic levels.

This is from the newly published Sullivan report on academic freedom. I wonder on what grounds anyone would defend this.

Important new report from UK. "It is clear that academics and students who have insisted that sex is a real and socially significant category have experienced barriers to research. This includes campaigns of harassment and intimidation." Same happens in USA, too. www.sullivanreview.uk/barriers.pdf
