The Girl From Greenwich Street by Lauren Willig. It’s historical fiction about the first murder trial in the US. Willig conducted two years of research (masters in history, also a lawyer) before writing it. Enjoying it a lot!

Very excited for this webinar that’s about to begin: The Future of Bar Admissions. It’s critically important, especially in light of the chaos that was the February 2025 California bar exam and with the Next Gen Bar Exam on the horizon.

This is COURTS UNMASKED: Civil Legal System Reform and COVID-19 by @alyxmark.bsky.social The book is about how state court systems work and how that impacts the people before them.

I learned about this book on Bluesky! And I purchased my copy directly from the publisher University Press of Kansas.

Not if they’re real-time scanners monitoring outdoor air quality. It’s a good idea to bring a mask with you just in case the wind shifts, you feel safer wearing one, you see ash, etc.

Although this guide is from the Air Visual app, it’s based on EPA guidelines and it’s my go-to.

Reading for the winter break! Courtesy of @bookshop-org.bsky.social and Moe’s Books.

A colleague recommended the 50th anniversary edition of Freire’s PEDAGOGY OF THE OPPRESSED and EDUCATION FOR CRITICAL CONSCIOUSNESS seemed like a good companion.

Reviewing some of my teaching material, and came upon a slide about the Commerce Clause where I included this screenshot:

There’s no underestimating a truly immersive and captivating book. I love ones you just can’t put down. My most recent was Richard Osman’s The Thursday Murder Club—I found it witty and fun, and reminded me of a good Agatha Christie novel.

Ok just one more! This is “Pulling Back the Curtain: Implicit Bias in the Law School Dean Search Process” by my former BizOrgs & PR professor (and later colleague!) Michele Benedetto-Neitz.

This is “The Ugly Truth About Legal Academia” (80 Brooklyn L. Rev. 943 (2015)) that I think (please correct me if I’m wrong here) became the basis for Deo’s excellent book, “Unequal Profession: Race and Gender in Legal Academia.”

There are two that immediately come to mind because I talk about and think about them on a semi-regular basis. This is “The ‘Pink Ghetto’ Pipeline: Challenges and Opportunities for Women in Legal Education.” 96 U. Det. Mercy L. Rev. 525 (2019).
