For sure, it’s the liminal spaces before the what’s next that can be a challenge. But they can also push us to create more beautiful, possible futures. At least, I hope.

Totally. I don’t think there’s a going back, per say and I am now so much more careful and wary about what I post, but there is a grief for the community that was lost.

As I just said on CNN, my father's parents were Nakba survivors. I don't want Israeli children to live in fear and I don't want Palestinian children to starve to death. There is nothing anyone could do to make me put nationalistic talking points above basic human rights.

Also friends, the other day, I was thinking about how much I miss professional community in social media spaces. I haven’t found a humanizing social networking outlet that fills the hole left by the loss of Twitter. Just putting that out there. It feels lonely w/o that community.

A few years ago I visited the National Museum of African American History & Culture with my grandparents. When we stepped out of the building my grandmother kept repeating the words “I lived it. I lived it. I lived it.”

She’s still here. That history is still in her bones. You can never erase that.
