Rooney Report #7 is out! New NDHDS data show partisan divides over political violence remain stark, 4 in 10 Republicans say force may be needed to defend the “traditional American way of life.” Majorities reject violence, but a worrying minority don’t. Check out the full report!

Thank you to Ryan Enos for his insightful talk, “Are Politics in the United States Nationalizing?” at last week’s Rooney Institute Seminar. We’re grateful for the opportunity to engage with such timely and important research.

You don't get to decide who does and doesn't have elections (and refuse to do so for the other party when it suits you)
Liar Greg Abbott says he has refused to set a special election to fill the seat of recently diseased Democratic Rep. Sylvester Turner because he says Harris County doesn’t do their elections properly.

The fact that the Department of Justice has not, and will never, launch an investigation into this massive national security breach tells you all you need to know about this lawless and profoundly corrupt Administration.

From the trend so far it seems clear that they’ll try to break the First and Fourth Amendments on a naturalized citizen, then on a US born citizen.
They are arresting people on the streets, terminating their visas, and disappearing them for writing things they disagree with. This is where we are. Two months in. Right now. If you think they won’t begin coming after citizens soon, you are mistaken.

I don’t know about you, but I think the best use of taxpayer money is to fly migrants back and forth to Guantánamo.
Breaking News: ICE has abruptly cleared out a second group of migrants it had brought to Guantánamo, returning 40 men to the U.S. days before the practice is set to face a court challenge.
ICE Returns All Migrants From Guantánamo to Stateside Facilities
A court filing described strip searches and the use of restraint chairs on some of the 290 migrants the Trump administration has cycled through the base.

100% right. As shocking as this sounds, leaders need to LEAD public opinion, not follow it.
The problem with Dems chasing public opinion is that THE PUBLIC'S VIEW OF THINGS IS JUST MOVING IN RESPONSE TO WHAT POLITICAL FIGURES SAY AND IT'S VERY OBVIOUS IN THE DATA MY GOD
