If I’m being honest, I’m feeling pretty crap about my small business.

It’s so bloody difficult at the moment with rising costs, US tariffs, Brexit nonsense and the threat of AI.

Please have a look at what I do and repost to spread the word gailmyerscough.co.uk

Years ago, I was footling around on the piano after a conference dinner when someone asked if I could play her favourite tune Autumn Leaves. I couldn't but went home & learnt it. Now, every year, I record it and send it to her. So, @profsallybrown.bsky.social this is for you x

I know this to be true because it’s my healthcare trust and it’s brilliant, but I can’t see it on the times site because of the paywall . Anybody got any advice on how I can get round it?

A cohort worthy and excellent individuals! And sending comms and love to people who applied this time and didn’t get it! It’s a hard knock to take but learn from the experience and try another time is my best advice

Interesting article Hugh. I think it’s not just oral exams that the time of day matters. For example, don’t run any exams late in the day if they fall during Ramadan.

Really interesting report by @stokel.bsky.social in @newscientist.com

The time of day a student takes an oral exam correlates with different pass rates

This is not a good thing

Fingers crossed for all the applicants I know and indeed everyone who applied. It’s hard when you don’t win but lots of people get it on the second, third or fourth attempt and remember you did tremendously well to even be nominated by your university as one of their best teachers.

The best day of the year is just one sleep away! Tomorrow, 7th August, we will find out who has won #NationalTeachingFellow #NTF #NTFS2025 awards!
