Seattle is about the same size as Helsinki, and had about 30 traffic fatalities last year.
Today’s episode of “there is a better way.” Helsinki went a full year without a car-related fatality. For the 90th million time, we ask-why not here? Why can’t we have the healthy, safe, secure, efficient, civilized goods others have: schools free of mass shootings, safe sidewalks, health care…
Helsinki just went a full year without a single traffic death
The capital city is Finnish’ed with car-related fatalities.

Change is possible: Seattle's Westlake Ave Trail before/after

The super useful Westlake Trail was carved out of a publicly owned parking lot. It was absurdly controversial at the time, with the loudest opponents being a “super yacht” marina. Now it’s loved and no one wants to go back.

@emilymbender.bsky.social Would you rather fully fund Medicare for all or start World War 3?

@walsh.bsky.social Sounders games are a great experience. I go to fewer these days both because they are more expensive and because my financial situation is tighter (isn't it for everyone). I'm not salty about the free ticket giveaway. I do wish they'd open up the top bowl for cheap tickets.

Okay I expected it to be quiet but I did not expect it to be completely dark in the middle of the bridge except for the bike path lighting. This is awesome.
