JK Rowling’s favorite word since the 90’s has been poverty despite the fact she was raised upper middle class and was broke for a short while following her divorce like most people. This farce is especially disgusting considering she could spotlight UK poverty issues and DOESN’T

This is my issue with politics lately. Basically, every announcement assumes the reader has an utter lack of curiosity or knowledge to the point that it's just meaningless chaff.

The government's immigration policy is now the exact policy they dismissed when Kemi suggested it in spring.

Migrants already can't claim benefits before they get permanent residency, surely we remember this?

Migrants already pay NI contributions, again, extremely obvious.

So what actually is the notional policy change? Just the volunteering bit?

Home secretary Shabana Mahmood announced at Labour party conference this week that migrants to the UK will have to prove they are net contributors to society, have never claimed benefits and have a clean criminal record in order to qualify for permanent residency.
Her new policy built on a previous government announcement of a rise from five to 10 years in the default period that migrants would need to be in Britain before being able to apply for indefinite leave to remain.
But ministers clarified this week that the 10-year period could be shortened if foreigners could prove they were making a positive contribution to society, including by paying national insurance and volunteering in the community.

Witness Support Dogs CIC is a UK-based organisation dedicated to supporting witnesses through training facility dogs. We can't wait to share with you the work we have done - watch this space for some paw-some content (and terrible puns).

A facility dog is essentially an assistance dog who works for an organisation.

They undergo rigorous training, normally to Assistance Dogs International (ADI) standards - the same standards as Guide Dogs.

Facility dogs work in all kinds of settings, including schools, hospitals, care homes, courts, police stations, children's centres, and more.
